Atrium School

Excellence with Joy

Admissions Welcome

2019 / 2020

Dear Prospective Atrium Families,

Welcome to Atrium School! Whether you’re exploring our website or touring our award-winning green-designed school building, I think you’ll quickly notice what makes Atrium so unique. We’re a home for independent, deep thinkers and compassionate, community creators; Atrium truly embodies its motto: “Excellence with Joy.”

Our school is an inclusive, progressive learning community where students, PreK to Grade 8, are encouraged and challenged. Here, progressive education means rich and interdisciplinary project-based learning that stimulates and nurtures the whole child. Guided by grade-specific themes like “What is Change?” and “How Do We Make Choices?” Atrium’s curriculum drives curiosity and promotes deep and lasting learning that extends far beyond the classroom.

Located in the heart of Watertown’s thriving East End, Atrium offers students boundless opportunities for community-focused learning. Whether exploring habitats along the Charles River, practicing yoga at nearby Artemis Yoga, or participating in research and testing with award-winning digital design studio RLMG, our students experience school as an open invitation to discover and interact with the ever-changing and multicultural world around them.

From PreK to Grade 8, our expert teachers celebrate each child’s uniqueness and cultivate a learning community where many forms of difference are a sought-after quality. We believe this approach is profoundly right and we know that it is educationally effective. Atrium graduates attend a wide range of secondary schools, both independent and public, and our alumni are thought-leaders and trailblazers in non-profit and commercial industries ranging from finance to cinematography.

Of course, choosing the right school for your child also means finding the best fit for your family, and Atrium’s family community is broadly diverse, representing and including a wide range of cultures, ethnicities, religions, home countries, physical abilities, family structures, and socio-economic standing. Our school prizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice and seeks to uphold these values in principle, but more importantly, in practice. At Atrium, we aspire to cultivate a community where all are welcomed and included.

Just as our students are active learners, I invite you to actively explore Atrium School and all it has to offer your family. Join us for an Admissions event, an individual tour, or our fall PreK workshop series, and experience “Excellence with Joy” coexisting in abundance.

Best of luck in your school search and thank you for exploring Atrium.
