Meet Atrium School Counselor Gila Modell

July 02, 2025  /  Molly St.Clair

Supporting the Whole Child: An Interview with Teachers College

Gila Modell brings compassion, collaboration, and a deep understanding of children to her role as Atrium’s school counselor. In a recent interview with her alma mater, Teachers College, Columbia University, Gila reflects on her career in counseling and the ways in which Atrium’s close-knit community, dynamic curriculum, and small, multi-teacher classrooms provide an ecosystem for individualized support.

“Each child has their own experience [at Atrium], and it happens because we’re so hands-on in individualized ways.”

Whether in one-on-one check-ins with students or partnering with teachers in the classroom, Gila’s relationship-centered practice reflects Atrium’s deep commitment to social-emotional learning and the whole child.

Read the full story on Gila’s committed and compassionate approach to school counseling below.
